About Franklin H. Perez
  1. My first short story was published in a local New York City literary newspaper in 2009. The story, “The Adventures of the 3&5 Horned Rhino Beetles,” was inspired by my childhood. I constantly played with these beetles and dreamed that I was like them. I wanted to fly and be strong like them and have super human strength. I found my love of writing for children while growing up in Yagüate. “There, the sweet aroma of sugar cane wafted all over us, bringing a charm and a sense of delirium that we, children, couldn’t resist,” My childhood, my son, Sebastian and my many experiences inspire me to write from my imagination. I have  written 20 children’s books. Also, I’ve been working on a teen’s book.
  • After earning a B.A. in Liberal Arts from City College (CUNY), I have had many odd jobs, including a school family para-professional, licensed real estate professional, driver and a licensed tour guide of New York City. Through these experiences, I became a jack of all trades. More importantly, these experiences enriched my life and inspired me to write more.

  • Though I will always embrace my Yagüatense side, I feel like a New Yorker at heart, and I currently moved Greater Augusta, GA. If I’m not working on a latest story, you can find me reading, learning a new language, exploring a new travel destination, watching a television series or imagining flying like his rhino beetles!
